See You At The EX! History and Stories of the Annapolis Valley Exhibition

Fairs and communities are the same around the world. It is the bringing of people and customs together. There are State Fairs in the United States, Provincial Exhibitions in every Province of Canada and various expositions in countries around the world. Whatever the format they take, they are a special time for families, communities and nations. The Annapolis Valley Exhibition, informally referred to as the Ex, is our version of the best show on earth. In fact, it is referred to as “The Showcase of the Annapolis Valley.” What makes it so special is the fact that it is a fun filled week, blending history, competition, memories and friendship. The smells, the sounds, the getting together, the excitement – there are many views of the Ex.

Dave Whitman, the author of See You at the Ex, has been going to the Lawrencetown Exhibition since childhood. This book is the result of his research through interviews and personal experience. See You at the Ex is a collection of documents, photographs and personal stories spanning almost nine decades.
